Fiber slows down the breakdown or absorption of carbohydrates. Soluble fiber creates a gel like substance in the small intestine, while insoluble fiber creates bulk that aids in bowel movements.
Essentially fiber keeps you full, makes you feel full faster, and cleans out your lower GI tract. In addition, fiber slows the breakdown of simple sugar. So if you are going to cheat, make sure you eat some fiber. But don't make cheating a habit.
Omega 3's are excellent for diet as well. Salmon and flax seed oil are great sources of omega 3's. Have four ounces of salmon with leafy greens everyday and enjoy the benefits of great skin, improved brain function, and weight loss.
Lastly, eliminate sugar from your diet. The benefits are amazing such as weight loss, less inflammation, and improved skin tone with less acne. You will find that you will have more energy once the initial withdrawal from sugar resolves.
